NLAF Mission Statement

The National Leather Angels Fund™ provides help with fundraising and assistance referral to families and individuals through a network of affiliated chapters with a primary focus to D/s, M/s, alternative, leather and fetish lifestyle community members.

National Leather Angels Fund™

The Leather Angels Fund™ was founded in late 2003. Originating in Atlanta as a project from Master Dave at 1763, it is a concept to help others through the open display of items donated from community members, offered for purchase, with the proceeds going to lifestyle families in need. With help and support from others, we were looking at organizing assistance for needy area lifestyle families during the holidays (something that's been done for years individually).

Originally we pooled personal funds (something other area lifestylers had done for years) for disbursements to known lifestyle families with special needs, but decided even more could be done. With input from others, we decided to provide a table at 1763 for members (and guests) to be able to donate items that would be available to those attending the club, and to acquire items through donations to the Leather Angels Fund (LAF). Originally, most all of the items were donated by just a few of us (and we continue to donate regularly), but now many are joining in for the benefit for others.

Over the years our vision grew, and we have expanded our group to include the use of multiple resources for those in need. From donated vehicles, auto repair services, food & clothing, furniture, professional medical advice, and just about anything that can help those we care about in time of need.

Numerous fundraisers have been held, and plans for future fundraisers are always in the works. Volunteers have made lifestyle toys for sale with profits donated to LAF.

And now, our vision grows even more. We currently look to expand to a national network of local chapters. Rather than become a single national entity eating up proceeds for administrative and lobbying efforts, we wish to help local groups become established to serve their own areas, yet have a nationally known identity. We are currently expanding in the southeast region, with interest in the Midwest. As groups affiliate with our organization, we’ll post those to our chapters section listing.

As we are just starting this expansion, we expect some growing pains along the way. Initially our agreements will probably be very simple. Joining chapters will be required to pay a small administrative fee and annual or monthly fees for group maintenance… but the majority of all local funds raised will be distributed through the local chapters at their discretion. Each subscribing chapter will be required to furnish personal information for those individuals responsible for the chapter, and that information will be kept on file and updated regularly. At this time we are looking at incorporation, and possibly establishing as a non-profit. Anyone with legal services that are willing to donate the time and resources or at least initial advice and support for help in this area, are requested to contact us at info@nlaf.us.
